The Native Oyster Network – UK & Ireland and Bangor University Shellfish Centre are pleased to invite you to join the Native Oyster Network Online Symposium on Monday 7th September, 10:00-13:00, hosted by the Bangor University Shellfish Centre.

The symposium will allow us to hear progress and updates from restoration projects around the UK & Ireland and provide us with the opportunity to reflect on the outcomes and actions from our previous meeting in December 2019.

During the symposium, we are looking forward to launching the “European Native Oyster Habitat Restoration Handbook – UK & Ireland”, of which many Network members have contributed to.  We will also be facilitating speed updates from projects, research groups and industry representatives, an online virtual poster board and the opportunity for new projects to introduce themselves to the Network.

If you would like to sign up to deliver a speed presentation or submit an online virtual poster presentation, please get in touch with shellfish@bangor.ac.uk cc’ing NativeOyster@zsl.org by Friday 21st August. Please note that due to timings there will be a limited number of presentation slots available, so signing up to deliver a presentation will not necessarily guarantee a presentation slot for you.

In addition to the update presentations we will be facilitating the following discussion themes:

  • Sourcing of Oysters for restoration
  • Collaboration and join work
  • Horizon scanning & research gaps

Please RSVP to the Native Oyster Network Symposium by emailing shellfish@bangor.ac.uk cc’ing NativeOyster@zsl.org by 21st August.

Best wishes,

The Native Oyster Network- UK & Ireland and Bangor University Shellfish Centre
