The Final Straw Foundation

STATUS: ONGOING
We are a registered charity working to combat plastic pollution through community action, education, and collaboration. Founded in 2018 in Emsworth, Hampshire, we’ve grown from a small group of volunteers into a regionally recognised organisation inspiring change along the South Coast of England and beyond. We engage the public with talks, campaigns, and hands-on activities that inspire and inform. Our regular beach and community clean-ups remove harmful waste from the environment and reconnect people with nature. Through assemblies, workshops, and beach school sessions, we’ve reached thousands of children across the Solent region, and we help organisations reduce single-use plastics and shift to sustainable alternatives. In 2025 we started our first biodiversity project where, following the Blue Marine Foundation guide, we aim to restore the native European flat oyster (Ostrea edulis) population along The Solent, alongside testing the local water quality. All of this is to aid in our mission to restore, educate and clean our waters!
